End of the Season

All good things must come to an end, and so it is for basketball season. The boys had two tough games today, losing both. The first game went into overtime and unfortunately one of their big rebounders had fouled out in regulation. Pictures from that game are below:

The boys were still alive, however, but needed to win their second game of the afternoon to stay in. They played extremely hard and executed well but the shots just wouldn’t drop. I can’t even count how many shots rolled around the rim and then out, or just fell short. The effort took its toll, as they played with only six boys because of one player’s preexisting commitment. One of the point guards twisted his ankle and tried gamely to continue but in the end had to sit out. Ben fell hard on his knee but iced it and played the fourth quarter hobbled. They couldn’t have put forth a more valiant effort, but it just wasn’t to be. Despite the outcome, I think all of the boys had a great time. Ted asked each one to name their favorite memory from the season, and one boy said it was making new friends. That’s what it’s all about isn’t it?

Pictures from game 2 are here:
