A Better Game

Sunday, April 29th, 2007

The Titans posted a 1-1 draw this afternoon, with a markedly better effort than yesterday’s. It was end-to-end action all afternoon although it looked like the boys might be in for a long afternoon when the other team scored just minutes into the game. But they settled down and gave it their all, finally tying the game in the last four minutes with an amazing free kick from number 34. From nearly mid-field, he arced the ball over the wall, past the outstretched hand of the keeper, and then just under the crossbar. It was a thing of beauty! It’s not the first time this boy has done this, so I think we’re going to have to come up with a phrase along the lines of “bend it like Beckham” for this kid.

The Reason for the Half-Time Departure

Saturday, April 28th, 2007

Ben and I left Kate’s game at the half in order to make it to his game, which luckily was a home game. The result was not what we would have hoped, especially since it was against Ben’s old club but as I told Ben afterwards, I’d rather have him play for his current coach and lose than play for his former coach and win. And that is all I have to say about that.

Another Half-Time Departure

Saturday, April 28th, 2007

I had to leave Kate’s game at the half again, but this time because of a conflict with Ben’s schedule rather than Kate’s. So there are only a few photos here, and none of them are Kate. But fun nonetheless!
