Delco Part 2

Thursday, May 31st, 2007

The second day of the tournament was boiling hot, even as early as 9:00. The boys played well again in the morning, playing to a 3-3 draw against the Parsippany Celtic United. They played on a bigger field and were very evenly matched up. The draw was enough for the Titans to win their bracket and make it to the semi-finals later that afternoon.

Unfortunately, the heat and the big fields eventually took their toll and the boys fell to the Livingston Lizards 2-1. It was another hard-fought battle and although the boys were disappointed, they have every right to hold their heads high. They did an absolutely amazing job adjusting to the big field and full-sided play. They gave every team they played a good game and played some pretty soccer.

Well done, Titans!

Pardon the Interruption

Instead of more pictures from the tournament, I’m posting pictures from today’s water balloon fight at Ben’s practice. As I was pulling up to drop Ben off, the coach ran over and asked if I had my camera. I said no, and then he leaned over and whispered “I have a surprise for the boys. I’ve got 150 water balloons that we’re going to use at the end of practice.” So I ran home after dropping off my rental lens at the post office and got there just in time. A great way to end practice on a hot and steamy day!

Delco Tournament

Monday, May 28th, 2007

I’ll write a more thorough post later, but we spent the weekend in Pennsylvania for Ben’s soccer tournament. The Titans did surprisingly well, making it to the semi-finals with some really nice soccer. I say surprisingly because the tournament was full-sided (11 v.11) and the boys have only played 8 v. 8 before. They had a couple of full-sided scrimmages the week prior to the tournament but that doesn’t really compare to playing it for a full year like every other team. They won both games on Saturday, the first by 3-1 against the Toms River Tarheels.

The second win was 3-2 over YMS 95, a Pennsylvania team.

I hope to have the rest of the pictures up by the end of the week.
