Alas, the playoffs ended much too quickly for the boys. Despite the #1 seed, or perhaps because of it, they got knocked out of the tournament this weekend. I told Ted when they won the regular season that it was better to be the #2 seed in this age group, given that the #1 had never won the tournament. Adding to this bit of superstition, this time of year is ripe with conflicts, given that soccer is starting up again, and it’s also the same time as the District band competition. Ben luckily had his band competition on Friday night, but we lost one of our rebounders on Saturday to his baritone sax obligations and our top all-around player to a soccer tournament. The boys played hard but just couldn’t get it together. Oh well, at least they got a regular season trophy out of it.
Ted also says that this is his last year of coaching the boys, but he said that last year too. I keep trying to tell him to stick it out one more year, until Ben starts high school. We’ll see. Pictures from the last two games are below.
