Football Highlights

Football season ended a couple of weeks ago and it was a very good one for Ben. He was the place kicker for varsity and earned himself a letter. He was also the starting wide receiver for JV and had 11 catches for 3 touchdowns throughout the season. What’s even more amazing is he didn’t have a single dropped ball, except for 3 instances when they called pass interference on the defender. Despite carrying a double load, he managed to keep his grades up, and received a certificate from the Northern Region for maintaining his GPA while playing a varsity sport. Go Colonials!

Homecoming Dance

I swear, trying to get pictures of Ben when he actually has to stand still and pose is such a chore. You’d think I was pulling his toenails out. Add that to the fact that the light was gone, there was a large group of giddy teenagers, and you get these results. One of these days maybe. But I don’t have many chances left!

Varsity

Ben’s hard work at kicking camps in the off-season paid off, and he was tapped as the varsity kicker this year. He was a little nervous, since he’s only a sophomore, but he’s been doing fine. Here’s a video of one of his kicks during the first home game.

Soccer camp

We dropped Ben off at soccer camp this morning. The rest of continued on to virginia beach to get some sun and surf until it’s time to pick him up on Wednesday.

Braces Off

Umm, this is over a month late, but Ben got his braces off in June. Kate got hers removed a few months before, so for a short while we’ve got nobody in braces! Time to eat popcorn, caramel, and gummies!

St. Patrick’s Day Tournament

As I said in my last post, both kids had soccer tournaments this past weekend and Ted and I split duties, with me taking Ben. Like Kate, Ben made it into the finals. Unfortunately, however, unlike Kate, Ben ended up on the losing side of the equation. He was disappointed of course, but he’s had his share of trophies, so bounced back quickly.
